2. Obstetric Ultrasound In-service Training For Labor and Delivery Nurses.
Course: Sonographic Determination of Fetal Presentation in the Third Trimester.
Description: This course will introduce the Nursing Professional to the basic controls on an ultrasound machine. It will provide an introduction to transducer orientation, routine scanning planes, patient orientation, a review of the various fetal orientations in the third trimester and their sonographic appearances. The safety of diagnostic ultrasound and pitfalls in ultrasound will be covered. Emphasis will be placed on sonographically identifying presentation based on the position of relative anatomy and the identification of very basic fetal cross sectional anatomy.

Objectives:
After completing this course the Labor & Delivery Nurse will be able to:
1. List the elements of a fetal presentation exam.
2. Define terminology specific to fetal presentation.
3. Describe anatomy specific to performing an ultrasound for fetal presentation.
4. Describe the ultrasound technique necessary to image the fetal cranium.
5. Demonstrate the fetal cranium on an ultrasound examination.

Passing the Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Boards.

Why Sonographers should pass the Ultrasound Board Exams - Why should you bother gaining your ultrasound credentials? Why sweat it out acheiving an RCS, RDCS, an RVT, or an RDMS? Registered Sonographer so what?
